Breast cancer MDT meeting decision support

This web-based system is designed to support collaborative decision making by a variety of health professionals in breast cancer multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings. The system evaluates patient clinical facts and suggests optimal management options as proposed by high-quality evidence based clinical guidelines. In addition, the system ensures that clinicians are reminded, if relevant, if a patient is eligible to take part in any current clinical trial.

A standalone desktop decision support tool for breast cancer MDT meetings (MATE) is currently in routine clinical use at the Royal Free NHS Trust in London. Researchers at the Royal Free are investigating the extent to which MATE can help improve clinicians' compliance with evidence-based guidelines and the quality of decision-making.
