Symposium to celebrate the achievements and legacy of Professor John Fox
On the 6th of September 2022, OpenClinical held a symposium at the Francis Crick Institute in London. The aim was to celebrate the achievements of our founder John Fox in clinical decision support. We showed that life-changing apps based on John’s PROforma technology were created by InferMed Ltd. and Deontics Ltd. and used by millions of people around the world in a variety of care, and self-care settings. OpenClinical carries forward John’s legacy with a new open-source implementation of PROforma (OPS). The symposium concluded with presentations from those developing new apps.
We heard from friends and co-workers from around the world, and about the vision of MCBK-UK. Mobilizing Computable Biomedical Knowledge is a US-led, international collaboration to ensure that clinical knowledge can be developed, maintained and shared as a global resource available to all.
Some 50 researchers, developers, users and potential users of PROforma-based apps joined the symposium. The professionalism and hospitality of Francis Crick Institute staff, and in particular the assistance of Anastasia Photiou, John’s former PA, ensured an enjoyable event.
The presentations van be viewed via the links below. It’s in chronological order: the creation of PROforma, then it’s exploitation via InferMed (Arezzo), Deontics (Tallis), and OpenClinical (OPS).
